God Sees My Swimsuit

A strange thought, isn't it? We typically do not think of the Lord when we shop for this summer's swimsuit. I'll admit, I haven't in the past. But swimming season is here and so all the stores have their bright and colorful and "nothing-left-to-the-imagination" swimsuits on display, ready for the eager swarm of girls to grab them up!

But let's take a moment and think about this.

God sees my swimsuit. God sees YOUR swimsuit. He sees the color, the pattern....and the style. He sees the amount of fabric that covers our bodies. Now, let's ask ourselves this question: Is He pleased?

I know this is a touchy subject and I am well aware that I seem to always tackle the "taboo" topics. But this is something all of us, as Christian women, need to dwell on. And, for the men reading, this is an area that is in desperate need of the men of God to stand up, be pure, and encourage your sisters to live a life of purity and modesty. YOU, as soldiers of the living God, need to stand guard over your sisters and protect their innocence instead of seeking to conquer it or to devour their physical beauty up like a pack of hungry lions.

We, girls and women, have an obligation because of our freedom in Christ to honour the Lord Jesus and our brothers in the LORD by our behavior and by our dress. We, as Christian ladies and daughters of God, have the heavy duty and great responsibility to protect our brothers in the LORD by refusing to be any form of a stumbling block. We have an obligation to our Father to avoid the appearance of evil. Evil, you say? Yes, indeed! If you or I disregard what the Word says, if we are careless about the message of the cross, then this is evil. How frequently and easily we apply this to "drinking" and how acceptable it is for a Christian to not "drink" so as not to cause a brother to stumble, but how seldom this is applied to the area of modest dress. We forget that if a man looks upon us and lusts after our body, then he has committed adultery in his heart. If WE cause this sin by dressing immodestly, then we are equally to blame for his adulterous sin. This is so serious, girls!

I believe the LORD has called me to minister to girls and women and to share the 'hard things' that many are unwilling to do. Though I dislike having to say "negative" or hard things, God's word isn't always easy. And hey, IT MATTERS what a Christian woman looks like. It matters what she wears and doesn't wear. She is a representative of the LORD. She is an "advertisement," if you will, for the LORD. And as such, she should wear His name proudly, boldly...and decently. Not in skimpy bikinis.

I appeal to you, sisters, friends, strangers....please honor our Holy God by your attire. Not just this summer, but all year around.

1 John 2:16
"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

Genesis 3:7
"And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons."

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
"What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

I agree but at the same time we all are given a free will to choose what is right to do or wear. We can not change people or make them do anything from looking at people a certain way regardless of their looks. It is up to people to change their behaviors and hearts. I find men are just as guilty in this department.I know I dont make sense but I believe true modesty comes from within.I hope I make sense.

I am a little confused at to what you're saying. Yes, modesty IS a matter of the heart...and what is IN the heart shows up on the outside. Good intentions are all fine and well, but a choice is still made. And what is "in the well, comes up the bucket."

This isn't about "changing people." Only God can do that. MY job is to echo what Christ has already said in His Word. The men should do their part.....and the women should do theirs.

As a Male, I appreciate a woman who is looking out for her Brothers. Many women have no idea how hard it is for a guy to just look away or not think bad things about a immodestly dressed woman. Its gotten difficult to even go to church without seeing a woman wearing a skirt thats too short or a top thats too low cut. up!

I do agree that people like you should Probaly live life in a burka but if people are attractive and want to wear a bikini, I'm all for it... God created Adam amd eve in pure form and I think it's ok to show it!

I believe it is important to remember that, yes, God made Adam and Eve and yes they were naked.....until sin entered. When man fell, what did God do? He made them clothes to cover their nakedness. Walking around half naked - whether you are "attractive" or not makes no never mind. God wants His people clothed!
